A Little Bit About Me

I am a Chicago-based designer looking for my first career. As a recent grad, I do not have a lot of professional experience but I make up for that with my level of skill.

My first exposure to graphic design was by accident. My advisor signed me up for a Graphic Arts class in high school, thinking I would enjoy it more than a regular art class. I absolutely hated it. I had never used any Adobe program before and I couldn't get the hang of how anything worked. I hated drawing with the pen tool and every time I tried to edit a photo, something went wrong. I begged my parents to let me switch classes but they forced me to stick with in. One day it all clicked, and I was hooked. I went on to take three more Graphic Art classes in high school and I majored in Graphic Design at Benedictine University.

When I'm not designing you'll usually find me with a book in my hand. For as long as I can remember I've always picked my books by their covers. That habit has only gotten worse since getting into design. I love bold clean lines and contrasting colors, and I am drawn towards designs that pop. You'll never see me with a book whose cover is a still from a movie.

I am no social media addict, but I am on there pretty often. I like to use my boards on Pinterest to help me organize my ideas and to look for new trends. You can usually tell what projects I'm working on by looking at my recent Pins.

My Instagram will give you a look into my life and sometimes even examples of what I am working on. I try to keep my filters to a minimum, but even I get carried away sometimes.

I typically use Twitter to keep myself updated with the news. I try and watch the News every morning but I do love the constant updates I get with Twitter. How else will I know when Carmelo signs with the Bulls? But I won' t pretend I use Twitter just for news. By looking at my tweets you will get a insight into what I am thinking, in 140 characters or less.
